Since flickr and photobucket took care of all 6 thieves, I thought it was time to get that irritated post off my front page...and I'll do it by sharing an interesting factoid I learned about pets.
I noticed my dog, Ella's nose has gone from all black to a light pink shade. (see example of the nose...and her general cuteness:

She's otherwise in good health, so I hadn't been too worried and chalked it up to "snow nose", which is common for some pets in the wintertime. I googled it and discovered that some pets have an allergic reaction to plastic bowls and it will cause it to change to a lighter shade.
If there are other signs of issues or other changes in the nose it can be a sign of something more, so don't ignore those signs. If your kitty or pup is drinking out of plastic...switch to ceramic or stainless steel. It's not only bad for the nose color, but generally some plastics are being proven to have some pretty nasty chemicals in them.
I've since changed to a stainless steel bowl...and the color should go back to pure black...but either way it's the cutest nose ever.
